Simon started out as an experimental filmmaker before leaving university, and went on to make films and show work throughout Europe and, with others, to organize 'Expanded Cinema' - the first festival of alternative film in Britain.
He began work in commercials as an editor and moved on to direct, winning immediate acclaim and gold at Cannes and BTAA.
A founding partner of the seminal production company Redwing and, thereafter, of Spirit Film Co. he has worked with most U.K. agencies on campaigns for pretty much everything from Baked Beans to Oil and Hamburgers to Mercedes Benz. Since the early days the awards have kept coming, at Cannes, in New York, at D&AD, British Craft Awards, and BTAA.
Simon is recognised as one of the country’s leading performance and dialogue commercial directors, combining authenticity with a strong visual style.
